PGC
Parametric Graphical Configuration (PGC) is what Configura coined to describe CET extensions. It means that we describe the parameters around a product rather than a specific instance of it. These parameters are the standard ones like colors, grommets, or legs. But also, the less obvious ones which are usually covered in a specification guide. Things like where power can go or cannot go, rules for placement of electrical, rules for screens, maximum heights, stacking limits, and the list goes on and on. Our extensions will incorporate these details resulting in highly intelligent and playable objects.
Foundation Code
We continually invest in what we call our Foundation layer. This layer is what all client extensions are built upon. It houses standard routines for surfaces, storage, case goods, panel systems, worksurfaces, tables and chairs, as well as ways to do elevations, schemes, panel types, categorization, and tagging. All our best ideas and cutting-edge innovations land in our Foundation Layer to ensure that we not only create success once but can repeat that success again on future projects. This reduces the time it takes to create success and alleviates the risk of hiring and training new developers.
Documentation
We don’t just communicate; we document.
Our code is documented, Configura’s abstract code is documented, and Configura’s CM Programming language is documented, all by us with an eye towards ease of use and discovering new ways to improve CET. Configura has incredible amounts of technical debt built up in their documentation, which makes it hard for external partners to find the information they need to succeed. We have taken the years of experience PlatinumEdge employees have working as Configura developers and translated that into documentation that is as easy to use for our newest developers as it is for our oldest developers, all without having to learn or relearn it all the hard way.
We also document our projects. Each item to be developed is a ticket visible to the PlatinumEdge team and the customer. These tickets state what we will do and provide clarity on tasks for all project members. This helps ensure we do the correct thing the first-time reducing rework and miscommunication.
